SPOODLE INFORMATION

Spoodles are Fantastic, Fun, Friendly Family Pets

The many reasons for choosing a Spoodle include that they are smart, active and extremely social dogs. They also make a great additional family member for almost ALL types of households.

  - For families with small children Spoodles are not too large, so kids wont be easily bowled over, but they are solid enough not to be easily hurt by rough play.

  - For older kids a Spoodle is intelligent, easy to train and a terrific companion for outdoor adventures.

  - For couples a Spoodle makes an adorable fur baby

  - For the houseproud a Spoodle has a low to nonshedding coat with minimal dog odours, and they wont drool all over the furniture and/or visitors.

  - For the fashion conscious Spoodles look particulary snazzy with their latest haircuts and accessories.

  - For other furry four legged or feathered existing family members Spoodles are usually more than happy to make friends and get along  :-)

Spoodles are sometimes referred to as the "Social Butterfly" of dogs,

Altogether our Spoodle Dexter (pictured above) has been fantastic, lovable and irresistibly cute addition to our family eight years ago, which at the time included two boys (3 & 10) plus a teenage girl.

GROOMING A SPOODLE

The coat of a Spoodle is not difficult to keep well maintained and free of knots & matting (that can result in skin infections). While some sites advice daily or twice weekly brushing and grooming this is really not necessary, I certainly don't have the time! I usually only give my dogs a good brush once per month and a bath only when required (usually due to them having rolled in something very unsavoury).

Many new Puppy parents choose to take there Spoodles to the professionals at a Dog Grooming Salon but you can easily also Do It Yourself at home. I have always chosen the cheaper DIY option with just a practical, neat and farm functional style. This is also because I can't manage anything too fancy!

Two times a year I give my Spoodle Dexter a Full trim in Spring & Summer. I also do a tidy up Top & Tail  trim in Autumn & Winter. Perhaps if you are new to trimming you could start with the two tidy up trims.

What is fantastic about a Spoodle's coat is that in the Summer you can keep it short, which is great for swimming and easy to check for ticks, while in Winter they can grow it long to keep themselves warm.

Here under you can see Dexter before, during and after his full trim. As you can see I am left with almost as much fur as dog by the time I am finished. The kids always love their "brand new" trimmed pup.
